    What's Co-work and Connect?

A program designed to help TD professionals like you meet up, complete some work, and meet some fellow ATD NYC members before the work week is out.

    Why Co-work and Connect?

In today's world of work, TD professionals often face two key challenges:

    • Lack of time and energy for deep, focused work.

    • Limited opportunities to connect with professionals outside their own teams and organizations.

This program is designed to tackle both, providing an ongoing, structured setting for attendees to get things done together before the workweek ends—then celebrate with a little socializing.

      When is it?

Every other Friday in Spring 2026 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm EST beginning April 10th, 2026:

      • 04/10/2026, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
      • 04/24/2026, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
      • 05/08/2026, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
      • 05/22/2026, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
      • 06/05/2026, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
      • 06/19/2026, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Participants register for each quarter's series of co-working sessions and may attend as many or as few as they'd like.

      Who will you meet?

Talent development professionals from NYC and beyond, looking to work together, support each other's work, and connect with others.

      How does it work?
      1. Welcome & Intentions (15 min)
      • You join the meeting, introduce yourself to everyone in chat, and are quickly placed into a breakout group with 2-4 others.
      • You briefly introduce yourself to your group mates (e.g., name, role, org, interests) and set your intention for the co-working session (e.g., finish a project proposal, write a LinkedIn post, research a topic).
      2. Co-working Sprint (45 min)
      • You work on what you intended to do, surrounded by other focused colleagues.
      • You can choose to leave your cameras on for accountability or turn them off for focus time.
      3. Check-In & Reflection (15 min)
      • You reconvene with your groupmates to discuss how things went (e.g., progress made, key learnings or takeaways, challenges encountered, next steps).
      • People may offer feedback or advice based on their knowledge and experiences if you request.
      4. Networking & Wrap-Up (15 min)
      • You end by getting to know one another a bit more and bonding over shared interests.
      • You might also arrange a time schedule for follow-up 1:1s to connect or discuss your work in more detail.
      • You and your group return to the main room to mingle for a few more minutes with others and then depart.

      Registration and Zoom Details

Zoom details are sent upon registration (and in reminders) via e-mail; we welcome you to add these directly to your calendar hold if not already populated.

For those who have registered for prior sessions, the Zoom link remains the same throughout the year. However, please do register for each quarter for the purposes of accurate attendance.

          About This Event

Your expertise matters. Your ability to communicate it matters just as much.

We've all been there: a stakeholder comes to us requesting training, and within minutes we realize training isn't actually the solution.

In that moment, the challenge isn't identifying the right answer—it's communicating it in a way that builds trust, demonstrates expertise, and moves the conversation forward.

Too often, L&D professionals find themselves wondering why their recommendations aren't embraced or their value isn't fully understood. But what if the better question is: How can we communicate our value more effectively?

Join internationally recognized executive coach and public speaking expert Minué Yoshida for an interactive session designed to help L&D professionals strengthen their communication skills, elevate their professional presence, and increase their visibility and impact within their organizations.

Through practical strategies, reflection, and discussion, you'll learn how to communicate with greater confidence, clarity, and authenticity in the moments that matter most.

During this session, you'll learn how to:

          • Communicate your business value with confidence

          • Redirect stakeholders to effective solutions

          • Speak the language of the C-Suite

Ensure your message is remembered long after the conversation ends

Because having great ideas is only the beginning. To create impact, you need to be seen, heard, and remembered.

            ATD NYC Design Day

            Talent Development For Community Impact

            Hybrid Virtual + In-person Initiative | July 7-25, 2026

            About the program

Design Day brings together nonprofit community-based organizations, ATD NYC members, and emerging professionals to apply talent development expertise to real community needs. In direct collaboration with professionals in our network (like you!), nonprofit partners develop tailored tools, resources, and learning solutions designed to support their team and mission.

            about our community partner

This year, we are excited to partner with the Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) at LaGuardia Community College to deepen the practice of the Education Case Managers (ECMs) who support their adult immigrant students in pursuit of their career and educational goals.

CIET is an award-winning provider of English, civics, citizenship, and family literacy programs for English Language Learners in Western Queens. The program is grant-funded, and all ESL classes are free and designed to serve low-income immigrants. CIET's programs exist as a place for students to learn English while they learn about resources to help themselves, their families, and their communities.

            What to expect

In this three-week hybrid program, you'll be part of a diverse team of experienced and emerging talent development professionals to develop a set of resources that ECMs can use to develop Individual Development Plans that drive clarity, motivation, and outcomes for the students they support.

Under the leadership of a core team of seasoned talent development professionals, you and your fellow team members will support CIET to:

            • Strengthen the workforce development capabilities and coaching skills of their staff
            • Support their ECMs in developing their ability to adapt their coaching to the evolving career and education landscape in NYC
            • Enable ECMs and immigrant students to engage in data-informed career pathing practices
            • Improve confidence and educational outcomes for adult immigrant students in NYC

            WHo should participate

If you have enthusiasm around topics like career development, needs assessment, coaching, or change management, this is the program for you!

No matter your level of experience or expertise, we want you to join us if you feel called to inspired your talent development expertise to directly impact our community here in NYC!

            WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

Not only will you give back to your community, but you'll also expand your network, gain consulting experience that you can add to your portfolio, and see your ideas implemented in the real world. With mentors and industry experts on hand (and delicious bites provided on the on-site day), Design Day is a chance to use your talents for positive change.

            the time commitment

Participation as a team member is a 10-hour "live" time commitment (6 hours virtual, 4 hours on-site at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City). Additional hours of asynchronous contributions are at the discretion of individual team members and their capacity.

This is a fully volunteer program and we are grateful for the generosity of our community that makes it possible. That we can count on our volunteers to follow through on the time commitment is essential to the success of the program and overall experience. Please join us if you are interested and available on all four program dates.
