The past two years have been a perfect storm that has resulted in a significant amount of stress and strain on so many individuals. Concerns about how to keep ourselves and our loved ones, safe and healthy, has taken on a new meaning.
Even before these significant events, stress management, work-life balance, and mindfulness were gaining momentum as critical issues. With the collapse of boundaries between work and home, it has now become more important than ever to recognize and understand the importance of mental health and acknowledge that leaders don’t lead employees – they lead human beings. While challenges continue to mount, leaders and their teams still need to show up every day and do their jobs. Under the normal stresses of everyday life, it can be hard to stay mentally healthy, but against the backdrop of these incredibly profound issues, it’s even harder.
While our leaders do not need to be mental health experts, they can play a part in normalizing the role mental well-being plays in supporting a healthy and productive workplace. When an individual is mentally healthy, he or she can deal with the normal stresses of everyday life and can be productive at both work and at home.

Leah holds a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from Boston College. Leah’s client work spans several industries including consumer products, biopharmaceutical, insurance, financial services, and advertising. Her clients benefit from her leadership knowledge combined with her creative approach to results-oriented action plans.
