ATD Employee Learning Week Event: Let's Talk About...Navigating Career Transitions

Have you successfully navigated a major career transition in the past?  Come share your wisdom.

Are you currently going through a career transition? Come to learn from others who’ve gone through what you’re going through.

This “Let’s Talk About….” Employee Learning Week Event is an evening for sharing challenges, insight, questions, and recommendations around career transitions including, but not limited to:

  • Transitioning into L&D/TD from another field or industry
  • Transitioning from one specialization to another within L&D/TD
  • Transitioning from individual contributor to a leadership role
  • Transitioning to working for yourself (creating your own consultancy)
  • Transitioning to working in L&D/TD as a side gig to another full-time career
  • Transitioning from school into the workforce

Several seasoned Talent Development professionals with experience successfully navigating career transitions themselves and in coaching people going through career transitions will be in attendance to facilitate the discussions including:

Barbara Phillips, Career Transition Coach, is in her 3rd career.  She started in non-profit healthcare management and transitioned to multiple roles in Corporate HR/OD/Talent Management. She has been self-employed for 8 yrs. as a TM consultant and is now focused on career/life coaching and workshop facilitation.

Cristina DiGiacomo, Founder of MorAlchemy, a career coaching, organizational change and leadership consultancy. Successfully transitioned from a 20 year career in marketing/advertising management and strategy to working for herself in a new field and discipline she created: "industrial philosophy."

Gabrielle Bayme, L&D Manager at Alvarez & Marsal. Over 20 years in L&D, transitioning from professional actor and teaching artist to corporate trainer and instructional designer, non-profit to corporate, soft skills training specialist to technical training specialist, and learning specialist to learning manager and "modern learning advisor."

Gina Lepore, Independent Leadership Advisor is now in her 4th career! She's successfully transitioned across different roles and industries --everything from support sales, technology, product management, and hedge funds to practicing acupuncture and being an executive and life coach.

Greg Simpson, Managing Director of Agent In Engagement, an employee experience-focused consultancy. Experience working in startups, small business, and corporate roles in the real estate and insurance industries before moving into a Top 5 global consulting role supporting Fortune 50 companies. After 5 years, he successfully transitioned into his current entrepreneurial role.

Robert Hellmann, President of Hellmann Career Consulting, a global career and executive coaching firm. Rob transitioned from "economist" to "marketing manager" to running his own business full time starting in 2008, after almost 20 years as a corporate employee/manager.
