Virtual Event

Change the way you show up, how you plan, and how you respond when things get tough.

Start finishing the work that matters most to you... and finish strong!

Too often we look back at the end of the week and are frustrated that we didn’t make progress on our soul-deep dreams and goals that seem to remain eternally out of reach. Start Finishing by Charlie Gilkey presents a 9-step method for success — including identifying your genius, building a success pack of supporters, navigating multiple projects, and overcoming the challenges that come with doing the work that matters.

Event Description:

Join in on our very first NYC chapter book club event AND be a part of this interactive virtual event with the author!

Learn how productivity is actually more about mindset and momentum than calendar management. Read Start Finishing: How to Go from Idea to Done and participate in weekly discussions (details to come once you register) then join us on October 20th for an open conversation with the author, Charlie Gilkey, to learn how to get your best work done. Feel encouraged to bring questions about projects you’re struggling to start, finish, or gain momentum on.

Start Finishing is a Publishers Weekly Fall 2019 Top 10 Business and Economics Book, a Kirkus Reviews Top Indie Book, and the winner of the Eric Hoffer Grand Prize in 2020. The goal of this session is to enable you to apply the frameworks, methods and insights from the book so you can finish 2020 strong and set up your 2021 for success

What you will learn to do:

    • Build your success pack of supporters, guides, peers, and beneficiaries

    • Use the Five Project Rule to prioritize your daily schedule and be at peace with the work you choose not to do

    • Chunk, link, and sequence your ideas down to doable parts

    • Fly through drag points – how to deal with head trash, no-win scenarios, and other people’s priorities

    • Heatmap your schedule so you do the right work at the right time

    • Overcome cascades, logjams, and tarpits – the three ways projects routinely get stuck

    • Finish strong – celebrate, review, and ride the momentum to your next goal

    Recommended Reading Schedule:

    • Week of September 29: finish reading chapters 1, 2, and 3
    • Week of October 6: finish reading chapters 4, 5, and 6
