Description:

If you aren’t already addicted, the time is now to hop on the TikTok bandwagon, especially to harness the power of the app when it comes to creating learning and organizational development-related content.

TikTok is a social network app for sharing short, user-generated videos. Originally created for users to dance or lip-sync along to popular songs, the app has taken the world by storm with more than 800 million active users and 20 million subscribers.

So, what’s so addictive about it and how can learning & development teams leverage TikTok’s winning engagement tactics to integrate into their organization’s L&D strategy in order to captivate their own modern learners?

Join Instructional Designer/Healthcare IT Trainer and ATDNYC Member, Samantha Peller, as she shares the scoop on the fastest growing social media platform.

Learning Outcomes:

  • The basics of the once-known dancing app and how TikTok can be an effective tool for creating memorable, engaging L&D content.
  • Tips and Tricks that will harness the power of user-generated content for L&D purposes.
  • By the end of class, you'll have the tools and confidence to take your TikTok account to the next level when creating micro-learning content

For best results, come ready with the Tik Tok app installed on your phone/tablet so you can follow along! See instructions below:

Special thanks to ODNNY for organizing this unique event!

About the Speaker:

Samantha Peller is an Instructional Designer, Corporate Trainer, and Healthcare IT Professional. She began her career as a musical theater performer where she appeared on stage and in films, television shows, and commercials. Samantha is also a former NY State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist/Registered Drama Therapist who worked within a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical settings throughout the NY Metro area serving medically ill children, adolescents with developmental disabilities, and adults living with chronic and severe mental illness and substance use issues.  It was while working on an inpatient adult acute psychiatric unit that Samantha’s strong desire to “help the Helpers” was sparked, leading to her interest in L&D as a way to improve patient care within healthcare settings. Samantha eventually sought out a career in Training and Development and became a member of both the ATD and ATDNYC, serving as a volunteer on a number of projects throughout the years.

By day, Samantha currently works at Mount Sinai Hospital as an Electronic Medical Records Principal Trainer/Instructional Designer/IT Analyst supporting NYC’s Healthcare Heroes. She is also a professional Voiceover Artist, lending her unique voice and audio engineering skills to e-learnings, medical narration, and animated projects. Samantha is thrilled to be presenting to the ODNNY and ATDNYC networks on how to creatively blend cutting-edge technology with L&D concepts to engage learners and elevate workplaces.
