Welcome to the ATD NYC Member Section! |
Here is what some of our members who took part in our pilot Mentorship Program last year had to share:
Kristen Sprotte – Mentee: “I can’t recommend the mentorship program at ATD NYC enough! The areas I wanted to focus on and my mentor’s expertise lined up perfectly. At each session, I shared a real-time problem I was having at work and my mentor gave me targeted suggestions that I was able to apply immediately. As a result of the knowledge and skills I gained from our sessions, I built a self-study program into a jam-packed 4-week onboarding agenda and developed the framework for a soft skills training curriculum. In addition, she directed me towards countless resources in the L&D space and opened my eyes to new theories about the modern learner. I am so thankful.”
Deborah Borlam – Mentee: “As an early career professional, ATD’s Mentorship program gave me the opportunity to form a working relationship with a mid-career professional who shared his acquired wisdom. I would recommend this program to early career professionals who need guidance in their transition from academic settings/college/grad school to the world of work.”
Gabrielle Bayme – Mentor: “The ATD NYC Mentorship program has been the most rewarding mentoring program I've ever participated in. I was matched with a mentee that was hungry for the exact type of knowledge I've spent years accumulating and have been eager to share. What was most rewarding was that my mentee was able to actively apply the tools and tips I shared with her to her real-life projects in between our sessions. This program is not only a great opportunity for those new in the field to receive mentoring but also for seasoned professionals to influence the next generation of learning professionals.”
The ATD NYC 2021 Mentorship Program is sponsored and led by the Career Development SIG Co-Chairs:
Barbara Phillips and Rob Hellman
Program Requirements
You MUST be a current member in good standing at the time of applying for the program AND commit to being a member throughout 2021
You MUST be willing to adhere to the time commitment of Five 1-hour mentoring sessions during Jun-Dec, 2021 (approximately one session / month)
You MUST be available for Three 60-90 min Zoom sessions OR view the recordings: Kick-Off Meeting, Mentor Matching and Mid-Point Check-in
Mentees MUST take personal ownership of their learning experience
Based on feedback from the 2020 Mentorship Program Pilot, we are recommending that all selected Mentees create SMART goals for what they want to accomplish in the program (in collaboration with their Mentor). We’ll provide more information during the Kick-Off meeting as well as ideas for how to best use your time with your Mentor.
NOTE: If you applied to the 2020 ATD NYC Mentorship Program Pilot, and we were unable to find a suitable Mentor match, you will need to apply again in 2021. We will do our best to prioritize your application with the caveat that matching is dependent on the number of Mentors, the skills they can offer, and Mentee needs.
