    Bio: Clive Leach M. Org. Coaching

    Clive has worked extensively within the Government, corporate and education sectors as an executive, leadership and career coach. He also designs and facilitates highly rated global workshop programs in focusing on Well-being, Mental Toughness, Positive Education and Coaching Skills within workplaces, learning institutions and communities.

    He is currently engaged as a Visiting Lecturer teaching on the world’s first MSc Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology (MAPPCP) program at the University of East London.

    Clive has spoken at numerous international conferences on issues relating to positive psychology and well-being - most recently at the First Global Festival of Positive Education in Dallas in 2016, The 5th IPPA World Positive Psychology Congress in Montreal in July 2017 and The European Conference on Positive Psychology in June 2018.

    Clive has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications. He is the lead author on a chapter entitled ‘The Integration of Coaching & Positive Psychology in Schools’ in ‘Coaching in Professional Contexts’ (Sage) and co-author of a chapter on ‘Coaching PERMA’ for ‘Positive Psychology Coaching ‘ (Routledge) due for publication in 2018. His peer-reviewed paper ‘Flourishing Youth Provision’ was published in the International Journal of Evidence-based Coaching & Mentoring Vol. 9 (1).

    Clive is a graduate of the Master of Organizational Coaching Program at the University of Sydney Coaching Psychology Unit. He is a certified Realise2 Strengths Practitioner accredited by the Centre for Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) in the UK and is also accredited in the MTQ48 Mental Toughness Assessment.

    A Workshop on Ethics in Data and AI for Beginners

    What is data? What is AI? How do they come into existence? How do we use them ethically when the data describes people, and the AI might affect people’s lives?

    This workshop will equip talent growth and engagement professionals with the knowledge they need to really “get it” when it comes to data-driven decision making and AI -- how it works, how tools are built, and how to use them well.  We will share how to analyze and refine models of data collection within their own company.

    Why do we want to teach this?

    We believe those who work in talent-related roles need to understand not just what these technologies offer, but how they work, so that they can make the right decisions for their people at work. We also believe that bias is a parasite, and those who are empowered with knowledge about how bias can show up, are empowered to mitigate it and create a more equitable workforce.

    What will participants walk away with?

    Participants will walk away with a deep understanding in designing data systems as well as tools to debunk the data systems that exist today. This workshop will allow participants to practice using a critical consciousness when it comes to data collection--what is being measured and perhaps, what is being missed.


    Sally Simms, Founder at Group Project

    Sally is a systems thinker and humanist, working on the systems that shape how we work, to make them actually work for people. She’s driven by the belief that when every person has the opportunity to reach their full potential, both employees and organizations thrive.

    Sally was a founding member of Google's News Lab. While at Google, she picked up the company’s algorithm-driven culture, its culture of always building new data tools, and its best-in-class people operations.  After Google, at transportation marketplace startup Buster, she helped bring a totally offline sector online, modeling its data and improving upon the industry’s existing dynamics with algorithm design.

    She created Group Project to do the same thing with workplaces. To bring a real-life black box - the talent make-up inside companies - online, and design smarter dynamics from that wealth of new data.  

    Bella Wang, Founding Data Scientist at Group Project

    Bella’s a war scholar turned data scientist, skilled in finding meaning in small, human-scale data sets. Her PhD research analyzed the strategy of interstate territorial disputes, using a variety of methods, including game theory, statistical analysis, and case studies, to explain political outcomes. A social scientist and data maven, she’s an all-around student of humanity, combining quantitative and qualitative data to tell stories about human behavior at all levels, from individual idiosyncrasies to the highest of high politics. She’s also pretty schooled on puzzles and games, which applies more than you’d think.

    Kyleigh Johnson, Founder's Associate at Group Project

    Kyleigh started out in coffee and comedy, and kept the comedy, but now she runs the show in tech. Kyleigh’s early experience with people systems came about when she opened a location for Irving Farm, a fast-growing speciality coffee chain, and redesigned the workflows for inclusion after realizing where operations were failing her diverse team. She found that what she learned studying social work, education, and theater applied readily to supporting people in the workplace. She has also built and contributed to youth engagement programs in the South Bronx, Lower Manhattan, and Abu Dhabi, and stays active in volunteer work. She’s always thinking about redesigning society to better embrace the people that make it up - whether at work, in education, over a great cup of coffee, or in front of an audience.

    Most organizations create microlearning assets to support learners when they are applying what they have learned and to act as quick reminders on mobile devices when learners are on-the-go.

    Unfortunately, our learners frequently don’t adopt this. No matter how well designed, unused microlearning is not worth the investment.

    But what if we can maximize the investment that we make in these short learning bursts while also increasing the effectiveness of our virtual training solutions? The key: focus on supporting all moments of learning need with microlearning, instead of just on-demand informal situations.

    Join us to experience and approach for crafting and delivering engaging microlearning and incorporating it into virtual classroom design. You will view examples, analyze what does and doesn’t work, and create a strategy for ensuring your microlearning content gets used over and over again.

    In addition to experiencing virtual classroom exercises delivered via microlearning, you will leave this session with techniques to help you:

Lisa began her career in education in 1996, and has worked in corporate learning and development since 2003. 

    Lisa’s previous corporate roles have included working in learning and leadership development with the technology company EMC, The Boeing Company, PEMCO Mutual Insurance, and T-Mobile USA. She also has six years of experience working in the accounting industry, supporting CPAs with their learning and executive leadership development.

    While a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) Board of Directors, Lisa served as the Chair of the National Advisors for Chapters Committee in 2013-2014. She is also a past Chair of the ATD Chapter Recognition Committee and a past President of the ATD Puget Sound Chapter.
